Urban furniture at Parc Durocher, nestled in the heart of Québec City’s Saint-Sauveur district, has been transformed into a central hub for residents to gather and engage in various activities. Designed by Tergos Architecture + Construction and BC2, the new layout emphasizes conviviality, multifunctionality, and sustainability. Morelli, commissioned by Bécon Construction, played a pivotal role in adapting, manufacturing, and installing key elements of the project. This includes kiosks, a stage, counters, and a range of urban furniture such as the modular Infinito tables, the Placottoir platform, and the Picnic platform presented as a podium.
The permanent kiosks, reimagined from Morelli’s signature maisonnettes, serve as focal points within the park. Located near the service pavilion and adjacent residential buildings, these impressive and functional structures are equipped with electricity and running water, making them ideal venues for community events, seasonal markets, and local activities.
Additionally, versatile platforms derived from Morelli’s flagship products enhance the park by providing relaxation zones, spaces for children’s free play, and stages for outdoor performances. Instead of traditional playground equipment, this innovative concept offers installations that encourage exploration, creativity, and interaction, fostering an inclusive and dynamic experience for all visitors.
Through this bold and visionary redevelopment, Parc Durocher has emerged as an iconic destination that meets the diverse needs of the local community while embodying a sustainable and innovative vision of public space.
